For many years the self-indicating carbon dioxide absorber reagents, EMASorb and Carbosorb have been popular in all forms of combustion elemental analysis. Unfortunately these products are no longer being manufactured and an alternative is required.

Elemental Microanalysis recommends the use of EMASorb II.  This has the same active ingredient, CO2 absorption capacity and similar particle size ranges as EMASorb and Carbosorb.   
The only difference a user should notice is that EMASorb is black when unused whereas EMASorb II is tan/green in colour.
This change in colour is because EMASorb II uses a different indicator to EMASorb; the EMASorb II indicator is the same indicator used in both LECO® LECOSORB and ELTRA® CO2 absorbent.

The change from EMASorb to EMASorb II will also be reflected in prepacked tubes X1185, X3006, X3027, X3028 and X3029.
